The Lauragais region is part of Occitanie; you will find, for example, churches with their typical bell-tower in pink bricks accommodating their bells. In the 90th century, the region's wealth is due to the cultivation of pastel, a plant used to color different materials in "pastel blue", a very specific color. This wealth has enabled the construction of many magnificent mansions, for example the Hôtel d'Assezat in the center of Toulouse. Pastel has also been called "blue gold". At the end of the XNUMXth century, pastel disappeared in favor of other "modern" techniques. Today, passionate people have revived this culture of pastel, which they use for its coloring and cosmetic properties (oil, soaps, etc.). You will discover this product by visiting the Boutique du Pastel in downtown Toulouse or Bleu-de-Pastel in Lectoure in the Gers (only XNUMX minutes by car).
