The territory of Lauragais lands has many advantages, including being close to the Toulouse metropolis, while benefiting from the advantages of the countryside: wide open spaces, small villages, pretty ridge roads overlooking beautiful landscapes...
This inter-municipality, made up of 58 municipalities, is labeled “ Territory committed to Nature » until 2026. This label promotes various initiatives that aim to preserve and enhance natural spaces. An agricultural region par excellence, Lauragais brings together a few farmers who have taken the gamble of a Organic agriculture (20% of the agricultural areas of the inter-municipality in 2023) and farm sale in order to promote the short circuits.
A greening project around the new Tourist Office
In this spirit, the Lauragais Tourisme team took advantage of the move of the Tourist Office to 6 wing mill to revegetate the 5000m² around the reception office. Member of the association Trees and Landscapes of Autan, the Tourist Office has chosen local trees and shrubs, resistant and adapted to the terroir. 50 linear meters of hedge have been planted and a planting program for the coming years has been included in the action plan.

The team has requested to join the LPO (Bird Protection League). Nest boxes and feeders for the winter have been placed around the Tourist Office. The team has trained in ornithology. Each season brings its share of nice surprises, such as the sight of red kites swirling in the January sky! When the trees and shrubs are sufficiently developed, the team plans to bring school groups to combine outings to the mill with environmental education.
Several choice sites are offered for observing the fauna and flora of Lauragais.
