Discovering an emblematic heritage of Lauragais

Even though it is a reconstruction of an old mill which was located in the heart of the village of Nailloux until the beginning of the 20th century, the remarkable Moulin rouge with six wings of Nailloux retains its share of authenticity (the mechanism is that of the original mill), and remains one of the rare witnesses of a not so distant era when the milling tradition was the wealth of Lauragais.

Now, the Moulin de Nailloux comes alive every school holiday, during guided tours accompanied by a bread workshop, Monday to Friday from 16 p.m. to 17 p.m.

Exceptionally, this event will be available free of charge throughout the afternoon on this holiday.

In the Land of Blue Gold

The expression “blue gold” has a very special meaning in the minds of the inhabitants of Lauragais. This honorary title is traditionally attributed to Pastel, this plant with prodigious virtues which gave its letters of nobility to Lauragais during the Renaissance, at a time when Pastel was extremely popular for dyeing textiles blue. Dressing in beautiful pastel blue clothes was then a mark of wealth and refinement.

The know-how of Pastel dyeing disappeared for several centuries, until its rediscovery in the 1990s. Making the dye is a long and tedious process. However, once dipped in the tank, the pastel blue is revealed to our eyes on the fabric in a few seconds.

On May 18, the Pastel Museum meet you in front of the Moulin de Nailloux to admire its pastel dyeing demonstrations.

A mini farm for children

What would the Lauragais countryside be without farm animals?
On the occasion of the Moulin de Nailloux Festival, a mini educational nomadic farm will be set up next to the mill.

Young and old will be able to be surprised by the charming goats and the greedy little pigs. The donkey, the pony, the pigs, the sheep, the goats, the rabbits, the geese and the chickens hope for your company to share caresses, giggles and wonder.

A stone's throw from the farm, a straw maze will be set up. Can you find the way out?
