The lock at Négra was one of the stops for the "Post Barque" which transported travelers between Toulouse and Agde from 1681. From Toulouse, the boats arrived for lunch at the lock at Négra. (dinner). Travelers found an inn nearby, a cooler for cooling drinks and a chapel that can still be visited. You can also admire a modest canal bridge that lets the Thésauque flow under the Canal du Midi at this point.
